Legionella

Risk Assessments

Under the Health and Safety Executive Approved Code of Practice HSE ACoP L8 and HSG274 Part 2 , there is a legal obligation on building owners and operators to carry out a risk assessment survey of the water systems to determine the risk of bacterial colonisation, and prepare a written scheme for controlling the perceived risk.

We offer high quality bespoke legionella risk assessments, carried out to BS8580:2019 by City & Guilds qualified assessors, presented in a unique and easy to follow format, with clearly defined action plans for full compliance.

Management Control & Log Books

Where a risk assessment recommends routine monitoring and inspection of the water services to manage and control the risk of bacterial contamination, we offer a service to assist the nominated responsible person in managing that risk by producing log books for the recording of:

routine low use outlet flushing
temperature monitoring and recording
shower and spray appliance disinfection
plant inspection including cold water storage tanks and hot water heaters
improvements, repairs and modifications
disinfection procedures
external contractor service visits

Hot & Cold Water System Monitoring

The Dutyholder may not always have the in-house staff or expertise to carry out the routine system monitoring and recording of results required by HSE ACoP L8 and HSG274 Part 2 .

We employ qualified engineers whose task it is to carry out these routine service visits on all system types, recording the results of their site tests and inspections, and provide interpretation of the service results to the client to assist them in their management responsibilities.

Subject to the requirements of a determined management regime, site visits may be required weekly, monthly, quarterly or bi-annually. The level of service offered will be tailored to the specific requirements of the client, the system design and associated risks.

Where measures are carried out by others (such in-house), we offer an independent annual audit service. We can also provide training for the responsible persons. For more information on the types of training we provide click here.
